As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen teaching quality and promote interactive learning environments, Ms. Liva Adil Shareef conducted a professional development workshop titled “How to Incorporate More Activities in the Classroom Using Own It as a Coursebook” for Foundation English and CeC lecturers in higher education at Tishk International University. The workshop focused on improving classroom interaction, student participation, and teaching effectiveness through the practical and structured use of the Own It coursebook.
The workshop aimed to equip lecturers with modern teaching strategies and practical classroom techniques that encourage active learning and student engagement. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of incorporating communicative and activity-based learning approaches into English language classrooms to create more dynamic and motivating educational experiences for students. Participants explored different methods of adapting coursebook materials into interactive speaking, listening, pair-work, group-work, and problem-solving activities that support learner-centered instruction.
During the session, Ms. Liva Adil Shareef demonstrated a variety of classroom management techniques and practical examples of how teachers can maximize the use of the Own It coursebook to increase student involvement and participation. The workshop also included discussions on lesson planning, creating meaningful classroom interaction, motivating students through collaborative tasks, and balancing language skills through engaging activities. Lecturers were encouraged to exchange teaching experiences and share ideas on how to overcome classroom challenges while maintaining effective and enjoyable learning environments.
The workshop highlighted the significant role of teacher training and continuous professional development in contemporary education. It emphasized that effective use of course materials, combined with innovative teaching methodologies, can greatly contribute to improving students’ language proficiency, confidence, communication skills, and overall academic performance. The session also reinforced lecturers’ abilities to deliver creative, student-centered, and outcome-based lessons that align with modern educational standards.
The workshop was attended by Foundation English and CeC lecturers who actively participated in discussions and practical demonstrations throughout the session. The training provided valuable insights into enhancing instructional practices and encouraged lecturers to adopt more flexible and interactive teaching approaches within their classrooms.
