Tishk International University (TIU) has launched its Foundation English Summer School Course, a six-week intensive programme designed to strengthen students’ English language proficiency and prepare them for their future academic studies. The course began on 9 August and will continue until 17 September, with classes held from Sunday to Thursday.
A total of 73 students are participating in the programme and have been divided into four classes to ensure an effective, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Students attend 15 lessons per week, with classes beginning at 1:30 PM, and will complete a total of 90 lessons throughout the six-week programme.
The Foundation English Summer School focuses on developing the four essential language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Each day consists of three classes. The first two classes are delivered by the coursebook lecturer and focus on the main course content, while the third class is dedicated specifically to speaking practice and is taught by a different instructor.
One of the main objectives of the programme is to improve students’ confidence in using English, particularly in speaking. Through regular conversations, interactive activities, and speaking tasks based on the coursebook topics, students are encouraged to communicate in English in a supportive classroom environment.
The programme also places significant emphasis on developing students’ writing skills. Lecturers provide constructive feedback to help students identify their strengths and improve areas that require further development. In addition, the course provides opportunities for students to practise listening and reading skills through a variety of classroom activities.
Through its intensive and interactive approach, the Foundation English Summer School Course aims to provide students with a strong linguistic foundation and prepare them for the demands of university-level study. The programme also creates a supportive environment where students can practise English, communicate with greater confidence, and develop the language skills necessary for their future academic success.
