On 9 June 2026, the Language Preparatory School (LPS) at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a professional development session for Foundation English lecturers focusing on the enhancement of students’ speaking skills.

The session included two presentations titled “How to Further Improve Students’ Speaking Skills” and “Effective Speaking Activities in the Classroom,” delivered by Liva and Mardin. The presentations aimed to introduce practical and innovative teaching strategies that help students develop their oral communication abilities and increase their confidence in using English in academic settings.

During the session, a variety of classroom-based speaking activities and communicative teaching techniques were presented and discussed. The lecturers shared effective methods for encouraging student participation, promoting interaction, and creating engaging learning environments that support language development. Participants also exchanged experiences and ideas on how to overcome common challenges faced in teaching speaking skills.

The presentations highlighted the importance of continuous teacher training and professional development in improving instructional quality. The session contributed to strengthening lecturers’ teaching competencies and supported the achievement of better learning outcomes in Foundation English courses.
